Beyond the luxurious villas, grand hotels, and historic art cities, Italy holds a treasure trove of hidden gems: its ancient borghi. While many of these tiny towns have grown quiet over time, others have found a vibrant new life by opening their gates to the international destination wedding market. This is the story of Petritoli, a charming borgo in Le Marche – a region often called Tuscany’s “hidden sister.” With its rolling hills and unparalleled flavors, Le Marche offers a soul that is unmistakably, quintessentially Italian.

Rachel and Ioan chose this authentic magic for their wedding at Palazzo Mannocchi, where they didn’t just book a venue: they literally occupied an entire town! From a ceremony on the panoramic terrace to an al fresco dinner in the iconic piazza, it was an experience of pure, unscripted Italian charm.

Our day began with a walk through the streets of Petritoli. As one of the “Borghi più Belli d’Italia,” the town offers a perfect palette: sienna bricks, deep blue skies, and green horizons that stretch forever. We then joined Rachel and Ioan as they prepared in the suites of Palazzo Mannocchi. We were instantly obsessed with the distinct atmospheres of each room: the dark red walls of Rachel’s suite provided a stunning, moody contrast to her iconic Vivienne Westwood necklace and custom-made pleated veil.

Their ceremony took place in the borgo’s main garden, a terrace with a view so breathtaking it felt like a painting. After the “I dos,” we explored the narrow stone streets for a portrait session that captured the quiet intimacy of the town before the party began.

The wedding party eventually took over the main square for an al fresco dinner under the stars. It was pure joy to see the heart of the borgo light up with music and dancing. We especially loved Rachel’s second look: a puffy skirt inspired by the Guns N’ Roses November Rain video, beautifully repurposed from her mother’s wedding dress. It was the perfect bridge between old and new, much like the spirit of a destination wedding in an Italian borgo.
