A love that is so big, so powerful that can unite two worlds – literally!
Maggy was born in Jakarta and has Indonesian and Chinese origins.
Filippo was born in Modena by an Italian family.
Both of them traveled the world, experienced new places and new homes, and then found each other – and became each other’s home.

This sweet, gorgeous couple lives in Jakarta now.

Through their endless journeys and crazy life experiences, they made friends all over the world and united them all to celebrate their love… In Bali!

After this wedding, they had two receptions and parties – one back at their home, in Jakarta, and one in Modena.
I was lucky enough to photograph their love in Italy as well – but that’s another part of the story.

Let’s start by one of the most beautiful weddings I’ve ever photographed – Maggy & Fil, August 24th, Bali. Enjoy!

My story with Filippo & Maggy started on a typical Tuesday evening – I received a message on Instagram, it was Filippo asking me if I was available for their wedding reception in Modena. We started talking, and I showed him my international works as well – at that moment, he passed the conversation to Maggy and everything began.

Maggy was not only the gorgeous bride of this wedding: she was also the wedding designer of it, and when she sent me her wedding inspiration mood board I was blown away.
She designed all the decor of this wedding, as well as most of the dresses you can see in the photos (her sister Beatrice is a gown designer: Maggy had four wedding dresses, and they designed also her sister’s, the bride and groom’s mothers’, and all the bridesmaids’ dresses as well!)
In short, all the beautiful details you can see come straight from her mind. Amazing, isn’t it?

Let’s move further in time to August 2019 – after a twenty-sh hour flight from Milan to Bali, I was finally at the airport.
It was the first time I had such a long flight on my own, and I couldn’t wait to meet Maggy and Filippo face to face!
From the very first moment I met them and their families, it felt like home. This is what I love the most about shooting destination weddings in other countries: you spend a lot of extra time with the couple, and really get to know them and their closest people.
I spent the whole wedding weekend at the same house with Maggy and Fil and with the closest members of the wedding party.
The villa they rented was probably one of the craziest, most beautiful places I’ve ever slept in – Villa Lalaland in Bali, a masterpiece of crazy architecture and design that simply blows you away.
Maggy and Fil got ready there on their wedding day, and then we all drove to Wonderland, where the wedding ceremony and dinner was.
Another slice of heaven – the ocean-front ceremony was simply amazing, both for its setting and for its emotions.
I loved the wedding dinner as well: to get the real Bali feeling, they had a fancy picnic in a stunning terrace, surrounded by their friends and family from around the world.
Two days later, we had a gorgeous couple shoot back at Lalaland, just before my flight home – but you can see it in the next post!

Being the destination wedding photographer of this wedding in Bali was an incredible experience, for the photos I shot but most importantly for the people I met. It was just amazing – I couldn’t describe it otherwise!
